About the Center
The Bakersfield Pregnancy Center was founded in 1985. It moved to its current location at 1801 18th Street in Downtown Bakersfield in May of 2018. Since its inception, the BPC has served over 40,000 clients and their families with pregnancy-related services.
The Bakersfield Pregnancy Center offers free pregnancy tests, medical pregnancy verification, first-trimester limited ultrasound, post- abortion and post-miscarriage peer counseling programs, abstinence education parenting classes in both English and Spanish, and material support.
The Center currently serves about 300 in-office clients per month. More are served through school and community educational events.
The Center is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) charitable corporation, with a California State Primary Care Medical Clinic license. Dr. Gene Roos, D.O., is the volunteer Medical Director and Dr. Juan Lopez, Ob/Gyn serves as our Assistant Medical Director.
The BPC is funded primarily by private individuals, businesses and local churches. Government funds comprise less than 5 per cent of the operating budget.
All BPC services are offered free of charge.
